Dual BRS GFO + CARBON REACTOR
so i decided after long battling high nitrates, phosphates to invest in a media reactor, after searching the web and reading about all the differant reactors on the market today( alot of reading what can i say im a skeptic) i found this dual GFO (grannular ferric oxide) + Carbon reactor through bulk reef supply.com. nice it has everything i need minus the pump and media, the price is right and its super easy to use. once i got it home and hooked it up to a MJ 1200 with GFO and Carbon in the chambers, i ran it for awhile (day or two) and noticed the output water was barely trickling out, so i called Ray over at Reef Tech and he said most hobbyists who get that reactor endup removing the large foam insert that blocks organics from flowing through the chamber. once i removed this insert and reattached everything, what a differance. runs beautifully with lots of water flow and superb clarity in the DT. he even matched the price of BRS so i was able to buy the reactor and media directly from him thus supporting my LFS and hobby. Thanks Ray
if youd like to check out this reactor heres a link to BRS website

Nice little reactor. did you get the double?
I could really use one, but i need a tunze 9002 skimmer first.
Good price.

that Tunze is nice for a smaller tank but id be careful buying a nano skimmer like that especially if your ever going to upgrade to a larger tank, just remember you cant overskim, what size is your tank?

Well its a 34g red sea max, with built in sump. So it has to be small enough to fit, i want to build an external sump i just dont know where to start. my skimmer SUCKS had it replaced by red sea 3 times..
still sucks.

yeah i understand, i started out with a 24g aquapod and ended up modding that thing to the extreme with an external sump and everything so i know what its like to want to go bigger but limited in real estate. im a very visual person do you have any pics of your setup? i run a red sea CSKIM 1200 never had any issues aside from a rattly pump at times.

Re: Dual BRS GFO + CARBON REACTOR
so the BRS reactor has been in place for about a week now, seems to be working, water clarity is great, phates and trates are down, maintaining a PH of about 8.4 salinity of about 1.025, but for some reason my bubble tip nem is all bunched up really small and doesnt seem to want to extend, this is making my clowfish angry, this nem actually used to be bright pink and the size of a basketball, then for some reason it decided it wanted to transform and turn bright yellow and get very small.
